We’re thrilled to announce that the Mitlenatch Island Stewardship Team is the 2017 BC Parks Volunteer Group of the Year! George Heyman, Minister of Envrionment and Climate Change Strategy, has this to say:

“The incredible amount of time and energy you have invested in Mitlenatch Island Park over the past eight years shows your remarkable commitment to BC Parks. From conservation actions such as inventory and removal of invasive plants to public education outreach, your contributions are greatly appreciated.”

A big thanks to Jason Straka, BC Parks’ Area Supervisor, who nominated us for the award, and of course a huge thank you to all of the volunteers on the team who made this possible.
